THE MYDOCTOR DIFFERENCE

Diagnosis: A Sick Health Care System
We don't need to belabor the fact that our current medical system is too expensive, time consuming, confusing and impersonal. The odds are, you already know that. There are a number of reasons why modern health care now emphasizes quantity of patients seen over the quality of care they receive - lower insurance reimbursements and insurance-driven directives for doctors to see ever more patients among them. In fact, it's gotten so difficult to be a family doctor in this system that we're now facing a shortage of primary care physicians. It's a downward spiral that means ever less time for preventive care.

Sometimes it takes a crisis to force a change. The good news is, that change is here. And it means better quality health care for you.

Treatment: Put the Care Back in Health Care
Ideally, health care should be primarily about the maintenance of your good health - with excellent treatments available when you do fall sick. The "first line of defense" in preventive care is your personal or family physician. Because your whole life affects your health, your doctor needs the time to get to know you well - not just to glance at your symptoms on a chart. MyDoctor "concierge care" gives you both the time to become partners in your health.

Pioneered in 1996, the concierge care model is a retainer-based medical practice that limits the number of patients seen by a doctor. By reducing the patient panel, the doctor has more time for each individual patient and is able to provide a level of care that is impossible to achieve in a traditional practice. Most Concierge practices have one level of service and a high up-front fee ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 a year. At MyDoctor, we have introduced two levels of service to fit the needs of a broader range of individuals, with fees starting as low as $99.95 per month. Please visit our Benefits Chart for more information on our different service levels.
